50 Years of Compassion, Excellence, and Reliability

With a desire to help people and his life savings of $16,000, 27-year-old Mark Baiada launches RN Home Health Care (RN) on January 17 at 1426 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. A lot has changed since then, but our dedication to improving lives remains just as strong.

To differentiate ourselves from other home health care providers and to personalize the business name, Mark made the decision to change the company name from RN Home Health Care to BAYADA Nurses.

Mark became impassioned about the prospect of a competitive rowing regatta for athletes with disabilities. Beginning as The Freedom on the River Regatta, the BAYADA Regatta debuted on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia in the summer of 1983.

The late 90s brought a dramatic surge in the national visibility of BAYADA Nurses with the airing of a heartwarming TV commercial called “Heroes on the Home Front” (aka, “The Storm”). The memorable spot brought to life BAYADA’s commitment to excellence and reliability.

The BAYADA Way— our foundational guidepost that encompasses our mission, vision, beliefs, and values—was created.
 That year, Mark and his wife, retired Director Ann Baiada, RN, CRRN, took an 8-month road trip to introduce The BAYADA Way to employees at 124 offices in 15 states.

The company had been growing in number of clients and available services for years and the name “BAYADA Nurses” no longer represented BAYADA’s full-service offerings. The name BAYADA Home Health Care was the logical choice—and the logo design was updated as well.

BAYADA Home Health Care partnered with India Home Health Care which broadened their reach and expertise throughout India. This move was BAYADA’s first step toward achieving its vision of serving millions of people worldwide.

Mark transitioned to the role of company chairman, turning the reigns of his legacy to his son David Baiada, who was named chief executive officer.

In June, BAYADA hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Global Support Center in Pennsauken, NJ. This location houses centralized internal operations for BAYADA employees worldwide.

After 44 successful years, Mark transitioned BAYADA Home Health Care into a nonprofit organization to ensure that the company—and The BAYADA Way—will live on for generations to come.
